Where to Find Fireworks on the Fourth in Austin and Georgetown.
My favorite July 4th tradition? Fireworks. Yes, we always parked in the next county. Yes, we trekked across who knows what. Yes, we forgot our way back to the car. But no one minded. The aerial kaleidoscopes erupting across the summer sky proved too intoxicating to pass up. And so for you like-minded pyro-appreciating firework fanatics, I bring you a list of five places where you might find your spot.
#1: Georgetown Sertoma July 4th Celebration and Fireworks. San Gabriel Park will serve as the site for this year’s celebration. Anticipating 10,000 people, Sertoma - a Georgetown Civic Service Organization - will provide non-stop fun for everyone. Kids will laugh and play on the games, rides, and inflatables. Adults will dance to the live music. And everyone will savor food truck fare followed by the oohs and ahs of the fireworks scheduled for around 9:30 PM. More details here:
#2: Star Spangled Fest with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. After 47 years of practice, the H-E-B folks know how to throw a party fit for the fourth. While free and open to the public, the hosts also provide three premium packages. Three bands will precede the symphony before the main event: fireworks over Lady Bird Lake. Vic Mathias Shores is the place, 5:00 PM is the start. Find out more here.
#3: Round Rock’s July 4th Parade and Frontier Days. Every 4th must feature an honest-to-goodness-old-fashion-small-town-parade. And while Round Rock is no quaint village, it is lending its charming downtown streets for a true Texas tradition. So find your flag, bring a chair, and grab a Round Rock Donut by 8:30 AM. Afterward, mosey on over to Old Settler’s Park. Frontier Days is up next. Swifty Swine Racing Pigs, Pepper Eating Contest, carnival rides, live music, topped off by a dazzling fireworks display. You can find all the details here:
#4: Fireworks over Lake LBJ. Highland Lakes in Burnet County provides three locations to celebrate the Fourth: Horseshoe Bay, Kingsland Aquaboom, and Marble Falls. At Highland Lakes, you’ll find boat parades, land parades, air parades (I made that one up), live music, food vendors, and, of course, fireworks over the lake. Kingsland Auquaboom’s pyrotechnics start at 9:00 PM preceded by a car show and water activities. Marble Falls fireworks begin at Lakeside Park at 9:00 PM. Here are the details:
#5: Red, White, and Buda. Ya’ gotta love the name. They say, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” and Buda jumped all over it. Big bands, bigger fireworks, the biggest bike parade right down Main Street. You’ll find directions and details here:
